This Cape Town-based former radio journalist and television sports anchor
was born and bred in Bloemfontein. From an early age Ken, who is completely
self-taught, took an interest in drawing and while at boarding school many
a study hour was devoted to drawing Elvis Presley, James Dean and
"other ducktails"
as his mother put it.
At age 16 Ken discovered Mad Magazine and was immediately captivated
by the artwork of Mort Drucker, Jack Davis and Sergio Aragones who
he had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing years later.
"I started out copying the work of Drucker and Davis," says Ken,
"and it just developed from there."
Today Ken boasts a sizeable portfolio and, working from photographs almost
exclusively on commission, has produced caricatures for Liberty Life,
Yardley, Mutual, and many other companies, also various sports clubs.
Ken, who is also a portrait artist, is married to Janice and they have one son,
Matthew, himself a very gifted and creative artist, and a golden retriever
named Leo.
